The Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of the software company, including financial reporting, budgeting, tax compliance, and payroll processing. The Accountant will collaborate with the management team to ensure the company's financial health, make informed financial decisions, and support the company's growth objectives.
The Accountant's duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
a. Financial Reporting and Analysis
Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Analyze financial data and generate reports to monitor the company's financial performance, identifying trends and areas for improvement. Coordinate with external auditors, providing necessary information and ensuring that audit requirements are met.
b. Budgeting and Financial Planning
Develop and maintain the company's annual budget, working closely with the management team to forecast revenue, expenses, and cash flow. Monitor actual financial results against the budget, providing regular updates to the management team. Assist in the evaluation of new business opportunities, mergers, and acquisitions.
c. Tax Compliance and Reporting
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations by preparing and filing required tax returns on time. Keep up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations, advising the management team of potential impacts. Develop strategies to minimize the company's tax liabilities and maximize tax credits and deductions.
d. Payroll Management
Oversee the payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely payment of salaries and benefits to employees. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including tax withholding, reporting, and payment requirements. Resolve payroll discrepancies and address employee inquiries related to payroll.
e. Internal Controls and Policies
Establish and maintain appropriate internal controls to safeguard the company's assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records. Continuously review and update accounting policies and procedures in line with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. Train and support other team members on the application of accounting policies and procedures.
f. Cash Management and Banking
Manage the company's cash flow by monitoring accounts receivable and accounts payable, ensuring timely collections and payments. Coordinate with banks and other financial institutions for the management of the company's accounts, loans, and other financial services. Evaluate and optimize the company's investment portfolio and banking relationships.
g. Other Responsibilities
Collaborate with other departments to provide financial support and guidance as needed. Participate in special projects, such as system implementations, process improvements, and other initiatives to support the company's growth.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional associations.
